Duke's Story -
A year and a half ago, we decided to get a dog for our children. Really, it was for our daughter. She had wanted a dog for years, and her lucky day had finally arrived. My husband chose this adorable, chubby black lab, and we named him Duke.
At first this little puppy was easy to take on walks. It was as he got older and larger that it became challanging. Duke decided to take me on walks! I tried to show him I was the boss, but he didn't always see it that way!
We finished having our back yard enclosed so he'd have a safe area to play in, but we soon found out that getting out of the gate without Duke wasn't always easy. We couldn't open the gate without him trying to get out. On many occasions, the kids would have to climb the fence. Thank goodness Duke doesn't jump the fence. At least, not yet!
Well, I decided that it would be great to have a well-trained dog, and that Duke and I would both benefit from it. My husband called The Dog Squad. So, we discussed it, and Duke was going to school! Yes! I WAS THRILLED!
The day came to pick up Duke. He was coming home! As we were approaching the building, there was this black lab standing outside. No leash and so well-behaved. Could that be our Duke? Yes! IT WAS HIM!
Sending him to Dog Squad Training was the best thing we could have done (and worth every penny!) We sent him for basic obedience, and what a huge difference it has made. He came back to us so mature! My children are no longer climbing the fence. I put him in a sit position, open the gate, and he'll stay. (This was once a huge problem!) Now I take Duke for walks not Duke walking me. He walks perfectly and pays total attention to me regardless of distrations.
I can't imagine life before Duke. He's part of our family. We all love him dearly, and his unconditional love for us goes unsaid.
Dale, you've been just wonderful. You've always been available to help us and have definitely gone the extra mile. Thanks so much for all your help! We really appreciate it!
